Pebble Beach Hole #7, Arrowhead Point Photographer's Notes "Carmel Bay View" Holes No. 6-7 This photo seems to be a visual summation of what makes Pebble Beach a golfer's paradise. After all, this is winter in California! Photographed prior to the 2010 U.S. Open, the course is in spectacular condition and the day was equally so. It is a joy to fly when broken clouds create varied lighting and add interest in my compositions. For me, golf courses are special parts of natural landscapes and this photo strikes that balance of golf-to-natural-landscape in one of the most incredible places on Earth. Joann Dost has been an aerial photo specialist for decades. This image was taken from a helicopter just prior to the 100th playing of the U.S. Open in 2010 at Pebble Beach. The course is conditioned for tournament play, while the 7th hole nestles into the tip of Arrowhead Point jutting out into the ocean and looking across Carmel Bay toward Carmel-by-the-Sea and toward the Santa Lucia mountains and Big Sur coast. Joann Dost is not only renowned as one of the world’s best golf landscape photographers, but she is also a pioneer of the art form. A former member on the LPGA and Australian Tours, Joann in part learned photography from her studies with Ansel Adams. This contemporary metal art piece comes ready-to-hang. The piece is made by infusing dyes directly into specially coated aluminum sheets which yield brilliant, luminous, vibrant color in a gloss surface that is waterproof and scratch-resistant. 24x30 Metal print
